Has anyone tried this pattern?

My little sister is interested in simplicity #9966, I am thinking about making it for her, does anyone know if this is a tough pattern?

I did use this pattern a few years ago.
I made the skirt/bodice in a red print, with black lining. I used 'antiqued' buttons for the tie ups.
I wore it once to faire, then someone bought it off me as I came out of faire!  Good thing i had clothes to change into!!
I think I need to make it again!!  LOL!

It was 6 years ago I made this for a client when I worked at the Costume Shop for a renaissance themed wedding. One has to be careful with the bodice because of the pieces involved and all the grommets it takes.

Make the skirts out of lightweight fabric like a Quilter's weight broadcloth. Anything heavier will cause to much bulk at the waistline. If my memory serves me right, the skirts are attached and has an elastic waistband. The chemise wasn't overly difficult. You will need enough Single Fold Wide bias tape however for around the neck and upper part of the sleeve.

Yes, I made that pattern many times. I made 10 blouses from it. 
I made the bodice, from tapestry and microsuede.
I think I made the skirt, not sure if it was that one or not. It isn't that hard to make, just follow the diagrams and be sure to measure.

I am glad someone asked about this one. My 2 older daughters want this top view A, the gypsy look. I am going to start on the first one next chance I get to sew.

I just made that very pattern in late May. If I remember correctly, there was something in the pattern that caused some confusion, but if you follow exactly what the pattern says you should do just fine. Be sure to use a sturdy fabric.

When I finished making mine, I discovered that it was not as long as I wanted it to be, so I had to find a way to lengthen it, which proved to be somewhat difficult.

I think the gypsy look would be easier. I don't have the... um... that is, I couldn't pull that look off well.

A friend of mine made the bodice from this pattern...She has the body of a twelve year old and what measured to be her size fit horribly...not just the usual too big...the arm holes were cut weird and dug into her arm pits and the under bust was way under her bust...Shes not the best seamstress so it may have been something she did...but if your sister is young/small enough you may wanna keep an eye out for issues like that...

I made this one quite awhile ago. The fit was pretty good for me, but I also converted it to just lace up at the front, so I didn't have to bother with the grommets. It's a fun look, and it's a very popular pattern.

Not only was this the first garb I ever made, it was my first time ever using a pattern!  If I could do it then, anyone could do it!   It was two years ago, here's a pic...
