Koerich Castle is a ruin located in the village of Koerich in central Luxembourg.

The Grevenschlass, now known as Koerich Castle, was built by Wirich I, Lord of Koerich and Seneschal of Luxembourg at the end of the 12th and beginning of the 13th century in late Romanesque style. You can still see the outline of the moat where it was filled in for streets.

Kasteel Oude Loo is located in the Netherlands.

The (Old) Loo appears in records for the first time in 1439 , when possession of Udo Talholt. Udo Talholt was a very rich man who loaned considerable sums of money to the Duke of Guelders. The Duke may have actually built the castle. Today the castle is dwarfed by Apeldoorn Palace.

Czyzow Szlachecki Castle is located in, you guessed it, Czyzow Szlachecki, Poland.

The present palace in Czyzow was built out of the medieval castle which belonged to the Pózkozic family since the 13th century. It had been heavily damaged during the wars of the 1700's.

Castle Mirandela in Alto Tras-os-Montes is located in the city of Mirandela, Braganca district, in Portugal.

The first documentary reference to Mirandela witness the presence of King Sancho I (1185-1211) when the siege was imposed on Braganca forces by King Alfonso IX of Leon in 1198. Traces of the walls and gates between buildings are all that is left.

Cerveny Kamen Castle is in southwestern Slovakia.

A stone castle was built in the 13th century as part of the chain of country frontier defense castles ranging from Bratislava to Zilina.

Kravjek Castle is a ruined castle located northwest of Muljava, in Lower Carniola, Slovenia.

Kravjek had once been one of the more important castles of the Duchy of Carinthia. Its first owners were the dukes Spanheim, who managed the castle via their ministeriales. This practice provides for the castle's first indirect mention via a 1243 record of a legal proceeding, in which a "Friderik castellanus de Weinek" was called as a witness.

Castle of Berroquejo is located in the area of Cadiz, Spain.

Built sometime before the Thirteenth Century. Alfonso X of Castile considered this castle one of his strong points against the moors. It was garrisioned at some point by the Order of St. Maria of Spain.

The Castello di Pavone Canavese is located in the Piedmont region of Italy.

It was built between the ninth century and the eleventh centuries. The coffered ceiling inside the castle is attributed to Arduino of Ivrea who was king of Italy from 1004 to 1014. Today the castle is a luxury hotel.

Castle Rued is a small castle in the municipality Schlossrued in the Swiss canton of Aargau.

In 1155 was the first time the men of Ruoda were mentioned. These were Ministeriale of Kyburg , from 1264 to the Habsburgs. The castle was built on the current site sometime in the late 12th century. It was mostly destroyed by fire in 1775. The southeast side remained but the rubble from the rest was used to fill the medieval moat. Large portions of the two curtain walls remain but are mostly hidden by trees and bushes.

Mahalibeh castle is located at a high mountain summit near Lattakia, Syria.

The ruined Kudryntsi Castle is perched on a hilltop overlooking the Zbruch River in Borschiv Raion, Ukraine.

There has been some sort of fortification on the site since the 15th century. It was heavily rebuilt in the 17th century to ward off incursions by the Turks. The Octogonal towers are the newest construction, built for cannons.

Durres Castle is a castle in Durres, Albania.

It was build by Emperor of the Byzantine Empire Anastasius I sometime after the year 410. The castle was reinforced by several tower guards by the Republic of Venice.

Burgruine Gmund is a castle in Carinthia, Austria.

The first mention of the castle is in documents as 29 February 1292, and seems to indicate that the castle was built in 1252. Part of the castle hosts a restaurant.

Hrodna Castle is located on the river in Hrodna, Belarus.

Hrodna Castle, sometimes referred to as Grodno, originated in the 11th century as the seat of a dynasty of Black Ruthenian rulers, descended from a younger son of Yaroslav the Wise of Kiev.
